What is Whisperframe?
Whisperframe is a digital art frame that listens to ambient conversations and transforms them into unique AI-generated artwork. It's perfect for capturing the essence of family gatherings, dinner parties, or any moment worth remembering in a completely new way.
How much does it cost?
Whisperframe is free to try—you get 10 images to see how your conversations translate into art. No credit card required, no time limit. Paid plans with more images and unlimited generation are launching soon. Sign up free and we'll let you know when they're available.
How does it work?
Your browser captures audio and sends it to our servers, where it's forwarded to OpenAI's Whisper for transcription and immediately discarded. After collecting enough conversation snippets (about 5-20 minutes worth), the text is used to create an artistic prompt and generate a unique image. We don't store your audio or transcripts—only the final artwork is saved.
Are my images private?
Your gallery is private—only you can see the list of images you've generated. However, the image URLs themselves are public (like most image hosting services). This means if you share a link to an image, anyone with that link can view it. You can also create shareable galleries to show off your favorite whisperframes.
What about my audio privacy?
We don't store your audio or transcripts on our servers. Audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and we discard it immediately after receiving the text. OpenAI's API data policy states they don't use API data for training, but they may retain it briefly for abuse monitoring. The transcripts are only held in your browser until an image is generated, then deleted.
Can I use this on a Raspberry Pi?
Yes! Whisperframe was originally designed for a Raspberry Pi 4 with a display. We even have a device setup tool that generates a simple command you can run on your Pi to configure it as a dedicated Whisperframe display. It sets up Chromium to auto-start in kiosk mode when your Pi boots up.
Is Whisperframe run by AI?
Kind of! Our marketing, social media, and content strategy are handled by Claude (Anthropic's AI), who serves as a creative partner for the business. If you email [email protected] or chat with support, you might be talking to Claude—and honestly, Claude's pretty good.
But there's a real human behind Whisperframe: Christopher Moravec, a developer in Portland, Oregon. He builds the product, makes the business decisions, and keeps Claude from getting too weird.
